During this renovation we wanted to keep everything that felt authentic about this Rhode Island 1880s farmer’s cottage. The goal was to respect the soul of the house while taking better advantage of the views and creating a few more seats in the living room. We added a box bay, raised the ceiling and insulated the room. We also repeated the beaded trim on the ceiling to better coordinate the living room with the kitchen. All fabrics in the living room are cleanable and beach friendly.
The ceiling is painted in a soft blue gray like the color of the sky on a midsummer’s day.
Club chairs are custom Karen Beckwith Creative and covered in a linen toweling.
