Within a small courtyard, a red plum plank door welcomes our clients, their adult children, and a large extended family.
Inside the entry, Karen Beckwith Creative brought the outside in by featuring bare trees sporting golden pears. The plank shiplap ceiling we painted in a soft yellow green – the actual color of pears.
To keep our clients’ comings and goings convenient, we selected a leather topped bench and matching table and placed them on either side of the open door.
A glimpse through the interior window into a wonderful, functional farmhouse kitchen. Beyond, the eye moves past the dining area and double sided fireplace and lands on the mountain view at the end of the open living space.
Towards the guest suites and powder room, a vibrant color beckons punctuating the neutrals of the public hall.
In a cozy nook off the corner of the kitchen we helped orchestrate a custom banquette. Overhead, a butternut squash yellow shiplap ceiling defines the casual dining area and provides the perfect contrast for our lamp selection. Our color choice was inspired by the clients’ collection of golden yellow stoneware. Faux leather upholstery will weather years of syrupy, sticky, peanut butter and jelly covered fingers. Custom accent pillows repeat the palette of the dining and living space in washable linen/cotton fabrics.
Separated from the dining space by a double sided fireplace, we designed the living room in this 50-foot-long open plan space to feel intimate and friendly. Employing warm golden yellows, rusty reds, plum, and tree bark browns, this cozy room seats 8 and is made functional with custom designed cocktail and console tables in rift cut white oak. Brass and iron lighting positioned at the intersection of the trim around the windows provides a warm glow in the evening.
This is the view looking over the top of the dining table towards the living room. We combined refined and rustic elements to keep it casual: sparkly cut glass decanters made into LED pendants, twine woven dining chairs, and our clients’ vintage plank table can all dress up for champagne or dress down for pancakes with the grand kids.
